Are lip injections painful?
Generally, no. At Brisbane’s Elysium™ Skin Centre, we use a combination of ice, local anaesthetic cream and local injections to ensure that your procedure is as comfortable as possible. In addition, some of the fillers contain local anaesthetic agents that further minimise any discomfort.
What should I expect after lip filler?
Fillers in the lips have the greatest swelling and downtime compared to other sites. Following lip augmentation you WILL experience some bruising and swelling for 24-48hrs. In some cases the swelling can be severe, and can last for up to 6 days. It is temporary and will settle.
Are there any risks or side effects of lip filler?
Bruising and swelling are very common and to be expected. They settle quickly.
Asymmetry may occur. In the early stages it is usually due to uneven swelling and will settle. If it persists it can be corrected with an additional small volume of filler.
Infection is uncommon, although cold sores (herpes) may be reactivated in those who are prone. Tell us if you have had a history of cold sores as you will need to go on a short course of preventative tablets. Bacterial infection is very rare and is marked by pain, tenderness, redness and unexpected swelling. Call us immediately if you have these symptoms as you will need to commence a course of antibiotics.
How long does lip filler last?
This depends on the type of filler used, but generally they last about 6 months. Dr Csilla does not use permanent fillers because of their risks and side effects. We cannot name the fillers that we use (due to TGA rules), however, Dr Csilla uses 4 different brands depending on the desired outcome. She will discuss this with you during your consultation.
How much does lip enhancement cost?
Elysium™ Skin Centre is not a budget cosmetic clinic. The results of lip augmentation are entirely dependent upon the skill of the physician. The cost at Elysium depends on the type and volume of filler used and the complexity of the work. Initial consultations with Dr Csilla are $200. Lip augmentation starts from $440 per treatment but may be significantly higher for some patients. Dr Csilla will discuss these costs with you and provide an accurate quote at the time of consultation.
